The Big Show is a full length performance featuring a blend of techniques and styles devised to free up people of all abilities to express themselves; including invisible pianos, banana synthesisers and adapted violins. Spring Tour 2017

IMG_8553.JPG

Over the coming weeks, all  60 of our members from across all three of our groups  will be touring throughout our local area to provide Electric Umbrella gigs at day services, schools, residential homes, shopping centres and the general public.

Our tour supports our purpose, to challenge the perceptions of people with learning disabilities by empowering and enriching lives through music.

This year our tour is kindly sponsored by Watford Borough Council, and we are aiming to perform to 1000 people that wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to experience live music of this kind.

Tour dates:

Monday 20 March –  Dacorum Day Service

Thursday 23 March – Rickmansworth Day Service

Friday 24 March –  Brakespeare School

Monday 27 March – Pebble Brook School

Thursday 30 March – Watford Day Service

Friday 31 March – West Herts College

Monday 3 April – Marlowes Shopping Centre, Hemel

Wednesday 5 April – Rickmansworth Gateway Club

Thursday 6 April – Watford and Three Rivers Trust

Friday 7 April – Cafe in the Park, Rickmansworth

A big thank you to all the host venues, and of course to Watford Borough Council for making it possible to bring so much music and joy to so many.

Seb’s 27 mile walk for Electric Umbrella

“Just under 27 miles completed in just over 9 hours and two very sore feet! Having received a video (watch here) last night from Electric Umbrella wishing me well there was no stopping me today! So happy to have been able to contribute something to such a worthy cause! Thanks to all those who have supported my cause and of course to thanks to my fellow walkers featured in the photos!”

Well done and a massive thank you to Seb Bryce whose donations are still coming in thick and fast!

Thank you for being YOU.

Our members are at the heart of everything we do. It is with enormous pride that we present each one of our amazing 60 members with one of these cards and hand-knitted beanie hats. A small token of love, thanks and appreciation for the contribution of each and every member to the success of Electric Umbrella. We love you all!

The unique beanie hats have been made especially for our members by an incredible team of knit-sters from around the globe. We have had hats from as far as Bermuda! Thank you knit-sters! And an exceptionally big thank you to Jane Gerhard for designing the hats and absolutely living this beanie hat campaign this Autumn!

It does not stop here! We want to thank all those of you that have sponsored the hats and enabled us to exceed our target and raise an incredible £930 for Electric Umbrella. Big love!

For those that are suitably jealous of the beanie hats, you might be lucky enough to bag yourself one, here… in our limited edition hat auction! Happy bidding!

Calling charity knitters to keep the music going!

An avid fan of Electric Umbrella, has come up with a unique and engaging way of raising money and the profile of Electric Umbrella!

Jane Gerhard has designed a pattern for striking black and yellow beanie hats featuring the iconic umbrella from our logo.

We are releasing the pattern to local knitters and knitting groups urging as many people as possible to get knitting and create as many hats as possible. The hats will then be sold during November and December to raise funds for Electric Umbrella.

It’s a particularly lovely way of raising money as an important part of our ethos is all about co-collaboration and togetherness, and this is yet another way of getting more people involved and engaged in what we do!

The hats will be a valuable addition to our members attire as we go on our busking tour of Christmas markets in December. All sixty members of Electric Umbrella will take part in the busking tour, hoping on and off the tour bus visiting Christmas markets singing songs they’ve written themselves and well known Christmas songs. This year we will be releasing our own Christmas single! The single will be officially launched with a live event at The Horns Pub in early December.

If you are a knitter, or know anyone that would like to get their hands on the pattern and help us by knitting hats, please email mel@electricumbrella.co.uk or call 07452 806517.
